Never Give Up on Good People

2 Timothy 3

1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.

2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.

3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.

4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.

5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

I believe Paul was talking about those certain types of people who simply refuse to change. In our society there are people who show repentance of their behaviour but find it very difficult to change.

Some Christians may read this and feel as though they should stay away from ungodly people, but i believe we should try to help them. Its our duty and the more people we turn to Yahuvah, the better we will feel and of course it will be pleasing to Yahuvah.

Yahuwshua came not to preach to believers, but non-believers. He didn’t just sit around with those who agreed with Him, He went out to change the minds of those who either weren’t sure, or just had no reason to believe in Yahuvah . As Christians, i feel its important that we don’t just hang around with other believers and keep everyone else ‘out of the circle’. How can we spread the good news of Jesus Christ to those who already believe? They know it already. Anyone who says that we should cut ourselves off from ALL non-believers are taking the bible to the extreme.

I know there are people who will simply not change. They wish us harm, they want evil to overcome us, and they live for themselves. It is these people that we should keep our distance from as they will never understand us. We can try to inform them but there’s no point holding our breath since they most likely will never change. Well at least we tried, even if it was just once.

There are others who just conform to the ways of the world, they think they are doing the ‘right thing’ and cant see any other way. We should gently encourage these people and inform them not only through our word, but through our actions, our attitude and behaviour that God is the only way to true happiness. Believers know the joy of having Yahuvah in their lives. They realise that its not all about money and cars, its all about Him. Just because these people can’t see Yahuvah as being the way, doesn’t mean we should just disown them. With help, they too can become righteous before the eyes of Yahuvah. It is these people who we should concentrate our efforts.

19 But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”

It may be difficult to convince those who sin, but the Lord will help them realise the error of their ways because He knows those who have pure hearts. We are Gods people and he may send them signs through us. Lets discern when Yahuvah wants to use us to help others rather than isolating ourselves to only those who believe.
