You Have Been Forgiven

Hebrews 8 from NLT

10 But this is the new covenant I will make
with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their minds,
and I will write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
11 And they will not need to teach their neighbors,
nor will they need to teach their relatives,
saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’
For everyone, from the least to the greatest,
will know me already.
12 And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins.”

1 John 2 from NLT

1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

3 And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. 4 If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

Put all your worries aside. Whatever you’ve done, whoever you’ve hurt, you can rest assured that God WILL NOT remember and you are forgiven. If God can forgive you then why not forgive yourself? There’s no need to keep thinking about your past, drop it and live for today and hope for tomorrow. Our emotions can play on our minds and we sometimes get stuck in a mode of being low and find it hard to get out. This may or may not be to do with something we’ve done in the past, but regardless, we must rid ourselves of these emotions, as hard as it is we must.

Should we have done something in our past that’s bad, Jesus has our back and like the verse says, he will plead for us in heaven. If we mess up again, He’s still there and like the Hebrews verse says, He will not remember it. You have the chance to live your life brand new from every mistake you make. Not that you have the ability to sin and just be forgiven, but if you’re trying, God knows, and He will never hold you against your mistakes, so don’t hold yourself against them either.
