Hebrew Word of the Day: Blessed, Happy vs. Guide, Direct

Hebrew Words

Tsavah [Tsadi, Beit, Hei]

Direct one on  journey

TsB – Side of the tent i.e. wall; the walls of the tent enclose what is inside. The tent walls stand firm and strong, protecting it from the harsh elements.

BH – Inside revealed i.e. empty; an empty space needing to be filled. To come or go into a space to fill it. A void within oneself that desires to be filled; a box [See BA, BY].

TsH – Hunt for revelation i.e. landmark; the desert nomads existence depended on water and pasture for the flocks and would migrate from one location to another. Landmark, such as rivers, mountain ranges, rock outcroppings, valleys, etc are the familiar and known markers by the nomad guides the migration. Like the nomad the ship follows the stars as landmarks to their destination. Through the journey along the road of life, there are certain requirements, directions and remembrances, which must be observed and followed to live a right and prosperous life. It was the responsibility of the father to teach the landmarks of the terrain as well as the landmarks of a right life.

As the family swells in size, the tent walls are enlarged. An army acts as a wall of protection, protecting whats inside. Note that they saw the inside as being empty and knew that only Yahovah could fill it to make them complete so they may have shalom. Unlike us who have been told the holy spirit dwells within us, the Ancient Hebrews believed Yahovahs presence was by the mountains, then year later, in the tabernacle. By following his commandments we remain in his presence as we are doing his will which is pleasing to him. NB. mitsvah means a directive; commandment. It is to serve, not as a fore or as power, but  intended to guide, govern, or  influence mankind to a particular direction. Now the bible is our ‘landmark’ directing our journey in life, just as Mount Zion was a landmark to the Ancient Hebrews. Matseybah means monument which was a lasting evidence of someone or something as standing tall and firm.

Tsiyon

Desert; landmark which were used for the above, to direct ones journey.

TsN – Thorn; the sharp piercing thorns that cause pain as well as protection. The thorn bushes were often used by the shepherd to build a corral for the flock sheep. They would deter any predators

This word has been changed to Zion hence refers to the mountain. It was a place were the enemy could not enter as it was protected.

Explanation

So far we see how important it was to be governed [the actual directions came from the Torah]. Remember this means ‘a guide’ as the thing that marks the direction that one is t take in life and this knowledge causes one to walk a straight path. Remember also that righteousness actually means to walk a straight path, and iniquity is to walk a crooked path. Sinning is missing the mark [path] completely. To talk more about the bringing of shalom by being filled [the benefis of being directed] we need to look at further words

More Hebrew Words

‘Ashar
To go straight on, make progress, to be advanced, be led on; be blessed, happy
ShR – Press the beginning i.e. rope. Cords and ropes were usually made of bark strips such as the cedar or from the sinew [tendon] of an animal. The rope is made by twisting two fibres together. The twisting causes fibres to lock and press onto each other making a stronger rope. It is then used to tightly secure or support something, e.g. a load to a cart or the poles of the tent. A cord pulled tight is straight. One who is happy is one whose life is lived straightly. A righteous one is one who is straight and firmly holds up the truth just as the cord is straight and firmly holds the wall of the tent upright. A stringed musical instrument uses thin cords for making music. Also represents a relative as one from the same umbilical cord of the family; the blood relatives remain within the tent. A traveller may have a wagon pulled by a bull where the load on the cart is secured with a cord.
The bible translates this many times as blessed, happy, however it truly means ‘led’. In fact the word is used to mean leader, led in the following verses and we will see  it doesnt  necessarily mean hat wed view as ‘blessed’.
Proverbs 4:
14. Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
Proverbs 23:
19. Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Isaiah 9:
16. For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
Note the following verse which may mak more sense knowing these Hebrew words and meanings
Genesis 30:
13: And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.
When we read about one being blessed they are saying one has advanced or made great progress on the straight path. Hence they are righteous and upright, they follow Yahovahs will with passion so much so that they say no to sin and iniquities. Should their paths become crooked, they would give sacrifices [in addition to the compulsory yearly chatthat for mankinds sin nature]. Following Yahovahs will of course meant back then, studying the Torah intently and knowing how to separate right from wrong [the basis of wisdom being to separate, i.e. to discern]. This is what happiness was all about because all that was important to them was being right with Yahovah. Yahowshua has made it so much easier for us and we owe our lives to him. There is no compulsory sacrifice needed and all we need to do is say the Lords prayer and repent of our sins and ask to be forgiven and if it is in truth, e will be forgiven.
Luke 8:
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
19Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
21He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
Someone blessing us means  they are making us progress along the path or setting us right on the path. Anyone who teaches Yahovahs word in truth is blessing others, a kind word or gesture [from Yahovah or man]can bless someone in that it takes them from a perhaps bad place to one of goodness allowing them to see the right path and walk it.
Talking of Yahowshua being ‘advanced’ on the path, and advancing mankind the following verse says:
Psalms 72:
17. His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
