Translation of… Taking the Lords Name In Vain

In vain means:

  1. Without success; ending in failure;

It is not so much about disrespecting Yahovahs name but more about misrepresenting him, something many Christians do without even realising it.

First we must be aware that we are created in his image [i.e. we are a shadow of him, and so we carry the responsibility of doing right by him and representing him correctly [by doing his will].

1  Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
